Master prints

The mark of Dürer and Lucas van Leyden in the Mariano Moret collection

Centre Cultural La Nau (Universitat de València). Novembe 2012

The exhibition is composed of more than a hundred pieces that show the influence of two of the greatest masters in the history of printmaking: Durer and Lucas van Leyden. All pictures are from engraved prints on metal (mostly open with burin on copper) and, with few exceptions, were made by engravers belonging to the German or Dutch-Flemish schools. Its varied themes and complex iconography add appeal and interest to the exhibition, which covers anything from biblical and mythological references or others taken from ancient history and popular culture.

Figures taken from the prints themselves are incorporated with the graphic play of paint on the upper parts of the walls and which contrast the small size of the prints with the great height of the room, in the layout of the exhibition area.
