Three Empires of Islam. Istanbul, Isfahan, Delhi

Masterpieces from the Louvre Collection

Centro Cultural Fundación Bancaja. Valencia. March 2008

An exhibition of two hundred and thirty pieces from the Department of Islamic Art at the Louvre and originating in the three empires: Ottoman, Safavid and Mughal from the fourteenth to the seventeenth century. Ceramics, carpets, weapons, textiles and miniatures are presented.

The distribution orders the parts by a sense of belonging to each of the three empires. The cabinets organize the tour, containing ceramics and leave space free for large rugs, placed on raised platforms protected from the public by a step with diffused lighting. Drawings of details extracted from the pieces add another dimension as well as decorating the rooms.
