Sympathy for the Stones

Centro Cultural Bancaja. Valencia, June 2014

(AVAILABLE FOR THE EXHIBITION TOUR)

The exhibition, in the words of its commissioner Fernando Castro, “features this legendary music band within the framework of ‘contemporary visual culture’, analyzing its multiple iconic presence through photographs, documentaries, graphic work, videos, works of art and testimonies of some of its concerts.”
Sympathy for the Stones opens the exhibition tour section offered by matra museografía.
It is basically an exhibition divided into different parts around a selection of around one hundred photographs of five renowned artists, who at some point in their career, supported the Rolling Stones on stage. An art-work section has been added with the original album covers, as well as some of other visual creations generated by the impact of the group.

The photographers Michael Putland, Bob Gruen, ebet Roberts, Gus Coral, Barrie Wentzell take part in this exhibition and the agency Magnum, as well as the artists Richard Hamilton and Avelino Sala.
