Jellyfish

as You Had Never Seen Them Before

Oceanogràfic València. March 2017

This exhibition was the main event in Oceanogràfic Valencia in 2017. Sixteen tanks were installed to show jellyfish from all over the world and forty-five more tanks were installed in the technical area for cultivation, reproduction of the different species of jellyfish, and research. The exhibition took place mainly in three areas: the access to the park, the Mediterranean Sea and the temperate seas. The most significant activity took place in the temperate seas, with a mural design that covered all the walls of the room with blue luminescent paint that was activated with black light.

A video mapping animation showed the biological process of a jellyfish. The scene was completed with wavy neon-led lines on the ceiling and underwater effect projectors over the entire place. All the elements described were programmed and belonged to the same narration, which was displayed cyclically.

A large-format comic was also made with the drawings and colouring of Rafa Fonteriz and script by Juan Miguel Aguilera.
