La mar de arte

IVAM. November 2005

This exhibition shows, through different objects that describe the evolution of sailboats-navigational instruments, masts, hulls-, a journey through the history of art. Ultimately, it is an attempt to make the mutation that sailboat design has constantly undergone over 5,000 years of Mediterranean culture, more accessible and understandable.

Alongside the pieces, perfectly integrated into the walls, illustrations of hull silhouettes are drawn, a compass rose or ancient drawings found on the walls of Denia Castle.

The chromatic game of painting-ocher and blue, like the sand and the sea-on the longitudinal walls, makes the space dynamic. A horizontal section of a darker blue, tells us about the horizon.
