Treasuring Spain

Photographic Backgrounds of the Hispanic Society of America

Centro Cultural Fundación Bancaja. June 2011

The exhibition is a selection of over 300 photographs of the peninsula, from 1853-1930, taken by prestigious Spanish and foreign photographers. The set-up allows (besides the enjoyment of carefully viewing the magnificent photographs) vision, on another scale, of details and frames that suggest and provoke another look and invite you to a closer experience of landscapes, people and places lost forever.  The installation of large screens, where images occupy the entire screen, immerses us within the photographs and incorporates exhibition space within the landscapes shown by images. The almost negligible thickness of the screens and motion pictures allow them become open windows floating in space.
